The
Polyphim, the Klaa'Keen and The Hive are their competitors
for living space. (Actually, The Hive is a competitior for
everyone except the Sprnadoi. They can colonise just about
anything.) |
|
Research Facility costs are high, discounted by an Era 8 Colony
Improvement. |
|
Hull
Types have plenty of weapons and shield capacity, are cheap
and available fairly early. |
|
Shields
are plentiful but not very effective until the late eras (Era
7 for CAs and Era 9 for larger ships). They are never much
good for DDs. |
|
Propulsion
systems sluggish and no Military Improvements are in the pipeline.
|
|
Astro-Navigation is average |
|
ECM
is ordinary but cheap. There are useful Military Improvements
in Eras 5 and 7. |
|
Offensive
Projectiles are okay, particularly at Close Range. DNs and
SDs can mount a reasonably balanced broadside, smaller ships
are vulnerable at Long Range. Planet Attack capability is
pretty good. |
|
Defensive
Projectiles are poor, except at Close Range. At least they're
cheap. |
|
Beam Weapons are cheap and very good at Close Range. Their
ineffectiveness at at longer ranges means you should not assign
more than 20% of your broadside to beam weapons. |
|
Military
Improvements are very limited; ECM, Beam Penetration and Planet
Attack are the only areas addressed. |
|
Colony
Improvements are available to reduce the cost of R&D facilities
(Era 5) and improve Trade Rating (Era 8), among others. Remember,
the Trogs are thick which accounts for their limited Improvements.
|
|
SP
costs for Era jumps are fairly low. This will assist tech
flexibility. |
|
Warlike
nature may restrict diplomatic opportunities in multiplayer
games. |
|
Low
trade capability does improve in the late game (Era 8). |
|
Base Rate of Fire is 35. Ordinary. |
